The statistics of October 2010 about unemployment rate and economy trend in Catalonia have been released today. Unemployment has increased by 9,228 people and the total figure is now 566,496. According to the Catalan Public Employment Service (SOC), this increase is explained by the end of the touristic season and of the fruit harvest season. Paralelly, economy has seen a growth of 0.1% in the third trimester of 2010 thanks to the activity on industrial exports and to the recent touristic season, which have compensated the sustained decline of activity on the construction sector.
